It has always been a dream of mine to climb Mt Kilimanjaro and I’ve now set January 2014 for my summit. It’s such a personal feat to even contemplate this considering where I was exactly two years ago today – in the Acute Care Unit with extensive blood clots in both lungs. I’m grateful for my recovery and want to give back to help those suffering from lung disease. For this reason, I’ve established “Kili Climb for Life” to raise research dollars for tuberculosis and COPD – two diseases that have affected loved ones and communities close to me. All funds raised will go directly to the Canadian Lung Association (I’m paying all my own trip-related costs). It’s a 15 month trek to my summit….and I could not do it without the support and encouragement of family and close friends.
